One-on-One Housing and Credit Counseling

Once clients complete the homebuyer education class, clients may choose to become a counseling client. During counseling sessions with a certified counselor, clients will develop an action plan, a budget, and receive credit counseling. All counseling services will be structured to meet each client’s needs. If you desire to become a homeowner, education followed by counseling is recommended.

HOUSING COUNSELING BROCHURE

The NELCDC became a HUD-approved housing counseling agency in 2005. The NELCDC serves a 60-county region in west Texas. Since then we’ve facilitated more than 164 first-time homebuyers in Lubbock and throughout the west Texas region.

As of 2018, the NELCDC has two (2) staff members certified in homeownership counseling and pre-purchase homeownership education. By August 1, 2020 NELCDC staff will be certfied as housing counselors by the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development.

The NELCDC provides the following services:

Monthly group education

One-on-One housing and credit counseling

3-HR/Pre-Purchase/Remote counseling (via phone, Skype, and via a 2.5-hour online training module followed by a 30-min budget discussion with a counselor)
